The Petzl Exo Eashook Self Evacuation Device was developed following the
desire of the New York Fire Department for firefighters to be able to
self evacuate from windows quickly. Following tests of forty solutions
from various manufacturers, Petzl's design was selected.
This is
essentially a large hook, 15 metre special rope (different lengths can
be made to special order) and the Petzl GriGri. The whole kit comes in a
bag and weights 1.3kg
This device can be used in lengths up to 100m and has been tested on wind turbines.
Training is ESSENTIAL before this device
is used - it cannot be seen as an easy solution for those not proficient
in the techniques needed.
- Used during an evacuation where possible anchor points have been identified

- Self-braking system allows the user to:
- easily give slack
- control and stop a descent
- limit the force transmitted to the user in case of a fall
Nomex (aramid fiber) bag for transporting and attaching the system directly to the harness
