The Gearshack is still the same small shop in Lewes, East Sussex and is run by outdoor professionals - so you can be assured of service from people who know what they are doing. The shop is associated with The Trekking Company, the country's largest independent outdoor activity company.

What does 'HMS' mean?
HMS is the German for Clove Hitch - HMS Krabs are designed to take the load across a wider section at the bottom, used for clove hitches and Italian (Munter) hitches. The Clove Hitch is half of a more elaborate knot - so it's the 'Halb Mastwurf Sicherung'
