The Gearshack is a small specialist outdoor shop in Lewes, East Sussex.
We aim to sell only high quality outdoor gear and want you to be
satisfied with what you buy from us, and with the service we give.
The
benefits of a small store are that we are able to offer expert and
impartial advice on outdoor gear, and can personally recommend products
for you. We have time to chat and discuss what you need.
This
does mean that we aren't open 24 hours, and we sometimes close for
holidays - so you know we are real outdoor people who use the gear.
This typically is late July/August when we work in the Alps. Also,
whilst we do keep stock of as much as we can, we don't have a huge
warehouse and can sometimes run out of items temporarily.
We
do not place items online which are not generally in stock. We may
sometimes offer an out of stock item for special order if we think it
is useful but don't keep stock - but we will make it clear on the
website that this is the case. For example, visors for ice climbing
helmets can be ordered in, or obscure spare parts, but we don't always
keep them as demand is low.
We deliberately will not promise 24 hour
delivery or a guaranteed
delivery date.
Please allow 7-10 days for delivery. Typically delivery is much quicker
than this, but courier issues, shortage of one item in your order and
the like can cause small delays and we don't like to promise what we
can't deliver.
ProblemsIf an item isn't what you
wanted or is not satisfactory, we will deal with it in a reasonable and
common sense way and within the law.
This means that:
- If you
order something and it arrives damaged, unusable or defective, we will
replace it. We will pay all postage by Royal Mail. (We won't,
however, pay courier charges if you choose to send it by courier back
to us).
- If you order the wrong size but we have correctly supplied
what you asked for, we will change the item no problem, but you will
need to pay the postage back to us and our postage to send the new item
to you.
- If we send you the wrong item, the converse applies - all delivery charges are down to us.

If there is a delivery or supply problem and you have a time constraint
(like you are going on holiday on Friday and need it for then), we will
do our best but we can't guarantee to rectify the problem before your
date. Please make sure you allow plenty of time if you have a definite
date in mind.
