Ancaster Scout Site

SPA

Warden: 01476 573270

Visited 5th March 2002. A 25 foot (approx) steel/wood tower with one side for climbing and one for abseiling. The only apparent access to the top is by leading, so the site is Level 3 (SPA) (unless there are ladders available, please send information if you have any). The quality of bolts needs verification.

More information on this site would be appreciated if you have any; we were unable to contact anyone in March.

Cordeaux School, Louth

Level: SPA

North Holme Road, Louth, LN11 0HG. Tel: 01507 606555

This school has a very old wall on the end of a gym. This site was not visited as the school indicated that the wall is litle used and Guide groups don't use it at all. However, if you wish to use it or have information to the contrary please let us know. Accordingly it has been rated as an SPA only wall as it is uninspected.

Cordeaux School wall (from leaflet)

North Kesteven Leisure Centre, Hykenham, Lincoln

Level 1

This wall is part of a school gym and is unavailable until 5.00p.m. during termtime. It is an old brick and incut wall, rarely used. There is no equipment available and no ropes. They will accept a Level 1 GA certificate; but the staff are generally unaware of anything to do with climbing generally and would accept anything really.

No photo; there were school pupils using the gym when visited.

Overall this facility is not really worth a visit unless you've got nowhere else to go.

Sudbrooke Park Campsite, Sudbrooke, nr. Lincoln

Level 1

This site is neither in the 'Yellow Book' of campsites nor on the Council of Campsite Wardens list; nor was anyone there when visited. Therefore I can find no contact details. To reach it, take the A158 out of Lincoln heading NE ish and when going through/past Sudbrooke there is a wood on the left which finishes about 100m before a large level crossing. Take the road left along the side of the wood (unsignposted) that looks like it goes to a farm. Follow this around and eventually the scout site is in the woods on the left. Just as you reach the end of the road (some sort of works; locked gates) there is a track off left and the gates to the site are up here.

The tower is a wooden one, about 20' high with some climbing holds on one side.
